8,000 housing units will be built in the city of Kiriat Gat in the south of Israel

The Southern District Planning and Construction Committee, headed by Oded Plus, has decided to submit a plan for the construction of a new residential district in Kiryat Gat. The plan covers an area of ​​1,190 dunams, and is located south of the city's old center, north of Moshav Uza and east of Highway 40.
The program, initiated by the Israel Land Authority, includes 8,000 housing units - of which about 2,100 will be allocated for small apartments and 600 apartments for sheltered housing. The district offers a variety of types of construction from low construction of up to 3 floors, textured construction of up to 10 floors, and higher construction of 18-28 floors.
In addition to the housing units, the plan includes about 525,000 square meters for public buildings, about 54,000 square meters for commerce, about 180,000 square meters for employment areas to be built adjacent to the existing Tel Aviv-Beer Sheva railway. In addition, the plan includes about 370 dunams of open space - of which a wide park of about 300 dunams, which will be built in the center of the plan for the well-being of the residents. The parking lots in the district will be underground.
For the purpose of implementing the plan, a section of the railway between Kiryat Gat and Ashkelon that blocks the development of the city will be moved south. The planned change in the section of track will allow trains coming from the north to Kiryat Gat, continue in the direction of Ashkelon and will in the future allow a comfortable train connection between Kiryat Gat and Ashkelon and Ashdod.

The new district will significantly strengthen downtown Kiryat Gat and accelerate urban renewal. .
