People aged 50 and over who received the booster dose of the corona virus vaccine were found to be 90% less likely to die, compared to those who were vaccinated twice, according to a new Israeli study examining the effectiveness of the booster dose. The study does not address the omicron strain that is currently plaguing health systems worldwide, first discovered about a month ago in South Africa.
The study, conducted by Clalit Health Fund in collaboration with the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Sapir Academic College, was published tonight (Thursday) in the leading medical journal New England Journal of Medicine. The mortality rates from Corona in the population that received a booster dose compared to the mortality rates in the population that was not vaccinated with the booster dose.
