The fast food chain McDonald's has raised prices of about ten items on its menu. Among other things, McDonald's will price the cheapest hamburger on the menu: a children's hamburger in a bun with pickled onions and ketchup from NIS 8 to NIS 9, an increase of 12.5%. There will also be a Mini Royal and a Mini Crispy Chicken from NIS 10 to NIS 11, as well as a few other items such as Chicken Mix and Double Mac Fish.
The chain has raised prices in the past, such as the Big Mac and Cappuccino meal. In the current wave she has been careful not to price meals, which are the popular product on her menu. It makes dishes more expensive, which will make it difficult for consumers to boycott them.
In the US, McDonald's prices rose by 8% in July. McDonald's was not the only one: a number of fast food chains raised prices by 8% -10%, including Taco Bell, Duncan, Chipotle and Cheesecake Factory. The chains claimed that the increase in prices was due to higher prices for raw materials such as meat and wheat and rising prices for packaging and transport materials.
In Israel, too, there have been price increases in fast food chains. Aroma Israel will increase the price of coffee by 25% and cancel the opposite by NIS 8. There were also price increases in Aroma Tel Aviv. Kopix raised prices by 40% in July. Among other things, a sesame pretzel will cost from NIS 5 to NIS 7, as well as expensive coffee and salads.
The chain responded: "The price increase means less than a quarter of a percent of sales. The prices of meals, which make up the bulk of McDonald's sales, remained the same. The price of ten individual products rose in shekels, to cover some of the rising shipping costs and rising food prices."
