Israel Railways has completed a level separation project that allows the cancellation of a junction between roads and railways in Kfar Chabad and has added about 160 parking spaces for train passengers at Kfar Chabad station
The project, which cost about NIS 60 million, will improve the safety of all road users, improve the railway service in the Shefela and the center area, and reduce traffic congestion in the area.
Israel Railways has been continuing for a long time in the strategic plan to cancel meetings between roads and railways in order to increase the safety of all road users and improve the railway service. In the village of Chabad, a meeting that canceled damage to the railway service was canceled due to burglary incidents in the meeting area that caused train delays.
The cancellation of the meeting will significantly improve the safety of train passengers and drivers of passing vehicles, will reduce traffic congestion on nearby roads and within the locality itself, as well as improve train service in the central and lowland area, where there is growing demand for train travel.
In the last decade, more than 60 road and railroad crossings have been closed, as part of the strategic plan to cancel railroad road junctions led by the Ministry of Transportation and the Israel Railways. As part of this, in the last two years, many road junctions in Nitzanim, Karmiel, Kfar Yehoshua, Zichron Yaacov, Kiryat Motzkin, Havat Ronit and more have been canceled. In the next two years, additional meetings are planned, including: Shefayim, Maayan Zvi and Dor Nachsholim, Lod and more. Their cancellation will allow acceleration of train travel speed and improvement of train service along the desired coastline.
The train mentions that there are still railroad junctions across the country where the most technologically advanced warning and prevention measures are installed. The train points out that despite the many efforts invested in the safety of these encounters, there is no substitute for the discretion of road users, and that caution should be exercised in the vicinity of railway tracks and compliance with the law.
