Mike Herzog took office as Israel's Ambassador to the United States

Michael (Mike) Herzog took office as Israel's Ambassador to the United States. Ambassador Herzog landed in the United States on Friday and on Monday officially took office as Israel's ambassador to Washington. Herzog replaced Gilad Ardan, who has served as Israel's ambassador to Washington for the past 11 months, in parallel with his tenure as Israel's ambassador to the United Nations.
On Monday, Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael (Mike) Herzog officially took office. Herzog, a lieutenant colonel in the reserve, served in a variety of positions during his military service, including head of the Strategic Planning Division in the Planning Division, military secretary to the defense minister, chief of staff to the defense minister and special envoy of the prime minister on political negotiations. The Jewish People, as an International Fellow at the Washington Institute for Middle East Policy and as Director of the Strategic Dialogue Forum.
Upon taking office, Ambassador Herzog hosted the annual conference of U.S. Consuls General in the United States at the Israeli Embassy in Washington this year.
In addition to hosting the conference, Ambassador Herzog dedicated his first day to meetings with the diplomatic staff at the mission and thanked them for their dedicated work in strengthening ties between Israel and the United States.
"The United States is Israel's most important ally. The special relationship between the two countries is based on common values ​​and courageous ties between the two peoples." Said Ambassador Herzog. He added: "I would like to thank the embassy staff for their dedicated work in strengthening this relationship and I look forward to working with Foreign Ministry diplomats and other government ministry representatives at the embassy to strengthen and deepen relations between Israel and the United States."
Ambassador Herzog also referred to the expected work with the Biden administration: "There is no doubt that the White House has a true friend of Israel. Together with the administration, we will work to deepen cooperation between us and break new ground." Herzog added: "Bipartisan support for Israel is a fundamental element in our relations with the United States and I intend to work with the Democrats and the Republicans in order to keep Israel as a cross-party issue."
