IAI has signed an agreement to convert ten B737-800 passenger aircraft into a cargo configuration for World Star Aviation. The conversion of the aircraft, which has a financial volume of tens of millions of dollars, will be carried out at one of the conversion sites outside Israel - at a maintenance center in Linko, China, in which IAI is a partner.
World Star Aviation is an English aircraft and engine leasing company, as well as aircraft management and maintenance, which provides a solution in the field of analytics, marketing and operational rental of aircraft - all to dozens of airlines and cargo around the world. World Star Aviation is also partnering with US financial giant OakTree, which manages more than $ 150 billion in assets, to set up cargo-based B737-800 aircraft-based operations for its various customers.

IAI's VP of Aviation and Director of Aviation, Shmuel Kozi: "As the leading conversion house in the world, IAI operates in this field at a number of conversion sites in Israel and around the world. The current agreement with World Star Aviation provides a solution for B737-800 aircraft and is a result of the increase in online commerce, which is directly translated into an increase in demand for cargo aircraft. The aerospace industry is preparing as required to provide an appropriate response to the growing demand in other places in the world. "
Yoram (Yoyo) Alaluf, Partner at World Star Aviation: "As a leading leasing company for aircraft, World Star Aviation has been operating for many years in the field of aircraft conversions with IAI. We see this agreement as a strategic step to expand the international activity of our cargo aircraft, as part of the partnership with "Oaktree Capital Management. In our view, the 737-800 is the backbone of short-range cargo planes. The agreement with IAI reflects the direct link between our plans to expand the fleet of narrow-body cargo planes and our wide-body cargo planes."
IAI's Aviation Division, Israel's Airport, consolidates all activities in manned aircraft: maintenance (MRO), executive aircraft, conversion of passenger aircraft to cargo, aerospace assemblies and structures, aircraft improvements and more. With accumulated knowledge and experience in the field of aviation over its almost 70 years of existence, and thanks to excellent human capital and breakthrough technologies, the division is in line with the leading companies in the world of aviation. Its customers include the largest companies in the world, including Amazon, DHL, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Gulf Stream and more.
