Elbit Systems has won a $ 100 million contract from Babcock, a British Navy supplier with new electronic warfare capabilities, as part of the first Maritime Electronic Warfare Integrated Capability expansion.
The contract will be executed over a period of 13 years. As part of the contract, Elbit Systems UK will provide Babcock with support services, as well as design, manufacture and supply marine electronic warfare suits, consisting of a full digital spectrum of electronic assistance radar and electronic warfare control systems. These new generation technologies will increase situational awareness and protection against Anti-ship missiles of the platforms that are at the forefront of the fighting, and will also improve their capabilities to take advantage of the electromagnetic environment.
The current contract was signed as part of the upward trend in demand for products and solutions that Elbit Systems is developing for the marine arena. The company, which is managed by Bezalel Machlis, has won several contracts in the field over the past three years: a contract to develop and provide a new coach for operators of battle management systems at the future submarine school; Modernization and management of existing synthetic training systems in the Royal Navy; Contracts to provide submarine capabilities to Asia-Pacific countries; Supply of unmanned vessels (sonar and management system); Contract to supply a SPECTRO XR electro-optical system for naval forces; A contract to supply unmanned vessels for the detection of mines; Contract to equip vessels with integrative intelligence suits; Contract to supply the Republic of Korea with underwater transmission systems; And a contract to supply naval combat suits, and to carry out integration, for vessels in the Greek Coast Guard.
As part of the expansion of its marine operations, Elbit Systems acquired Sparton Corporation in April for $ 380 million. Spartan is an American company that develops, manufactures and supplies electronic systems that support underwater combat, for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Allied armies.
