bus drivers of the Superbus, Egged Transport and Dan are protesting their terms of employment

Posted on Oct 7, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

The bus drivers of the Superbus, Egged Transport and Dan companies in the south, who are unionized in the workers' organization "Power for Workers," are protesting their terms of employment and wages and announced a labor dispute today (Thursday).
The move means that in two weeks they will be able to shut down transportation lines in the Ma'ale Adumim, Jerusalem Corridor, Gush Etzion, Mevaseret Zion, Ashkelon, Netivot, Sderot, Gaza Envelopes, Afula, Tiberias, Migdal Haemek, Yokneam, Ofakim and the lines between Ashkelon and Beer Sheva. Yesterday, the drivers of the companies demonstrated in Jerusalem, and according to the workers, more protest measures are expected in the next two weeks.
Tam Promovich, head of the Forced Transportation for Employees industry: "Unfortunately, only strike action led to an increase in drivers' wages. This happened when we returned in 2015 and 2018 and it seems sad that this time too. And not to return to this profession, it's time to wake up and beautiful one hour earlier. "
Aaron Shuvash, chairman of the workers' committee at Superbus: "The Minister of Transport justifies our pain, but in order to save the industry, much more than empathy is required. The bus drivers have become contractor workers, losing the seniority we have accumulated every time a franchisee enters or rather a new contractor. Operate public transport but are not considered public employees. Suffers violence from passengers but the assault files are closed out of lack of public interest because there is no law of the attacked driver as the law of the doctor or social worker. Drivers are tired of having the public punching bag. It's time to dump her and move on. "
One who opposes the workers' protest is the "Transport in Our Way" organization. Max Morogovsky, Chairman of Transport in Our Way: “A power organization for workers is no longer missing an opportunity to take public transport passengers hostage in every possible struggle. We support improving the employment conditions of drivers and first and foremost defining the role of the driver as a profession, but we will not allow harm to public transport passengers and disabling the essential service. "Transport on our way will be happy to join any policy document .
