Israeli air purifier manufacturer Ora Smart Air has recorded success in an experiment to destroy the corona virus indoors. The company plans to use the results of the experiment, conducted in a laboratory in California, to advance its device licensing process with the goal of selling it among other things for use in schools across the country.
The aim of the experiment was to simulate the spread of the corona virus in a way as similar as possible to infection through air (aerosol infection) within an enclosed space. In a room measuring 2.5 by 2.5 meters and with a ceiling 3 meters high, where the company's system operated continuously, a level of neutralization of 87.37% of the virus was recorded after 30 minutes. After 60 minutes, a neutralization level of 99.998% was recorded.
According to the company, the results of the experiment join previous experiments performed, including at Sheba Hospital, the Spanish Ministry of Defense and the Biological Institute at the University of Campaign in Brazil, where similar abilities have been proven. In some experiments, more resistant viruses were even tested.
Ora Smart Air intends to submit the results of the current experiment for licensing in the Medical Accessories and Devices Division (AMR) of the Ministry of Health in order to promote its possible installation in schools, nursing homes, public transportation and other enclosed spaces across the country.
Ora Smart Air's share jumped 12.8% this afternoon on the stock exchange, to a price that embodies a market value of NIS 206 million. The company was listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange last June, and since then the stock has jumped 26.5%.
