Fuel prices in Israel will rise again: The maximum price for a liter of unleaded 95-octane - NIS 6.39 per liter

Posted on Sep 30, 2021 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Tonight at midnight, fuel prices in Israel will rise again. Oil and fuel prices around the world have skyrocketed recently, and the last word has yet to be said. So how much will we pay from tomorrow, why is the price going up, and what does the future hold? Questions and answers that touch the pocket of every citizen, even those who do not own a car, as the rise in fuel prices causes a vicious circle of price increases in almost all areas.
The maximum price for a liter of unleaded 95-octane gasoline for a consumer at a self-service station, including VAT, will be NIS 6.39 per liter, an increase of 8 cents compared to the price in September.
This will be a new record price for two and a half years, but the all-time record was set on September 1, 2012 - NIS 8.26 per liter of 95-octane gasoline. So the price caused a big protest, and the government led a reduction in the price. In November 2020, the price of a liter of fuel in Israel was only NIS 5.34 - more weight less than its price from midnight tonight. The lowest price of fuel since the publication of the price in 2006 was at the end of the first closure since the outbreak of the Corona crisis, in May 2020 - NIS 4.79.
Of the price of a liter of 95-octane gasoline, for example, 63% is tax, ie NIS 4.04. Most of the tax is a special tax on fuel and the rest is VAT. The state could reduce the tax, so when the price of oil in the world rises to reduce the price increase for the driver, but it refuses to waive a clause that brings it NIS 19 billion a year in recent years.
For nine months, from December 2020 to September, the price of fuel rose continuously. In the current month, September, the price dropped by 5 agorot, but tonight it will rise again and this time to a peak during the corona crisis.
