The fine for not wearing a mask is NIS 500, and in the case of a repeat offense, a fine of NIS 1,000 can be imposed. Therefore, in August, the total fines amounted to at least NIS 23 million. By mid-September, 12,335 fines had been imposed for not wearing a mask.
In addition, according to data from the Collection Center, 1,989 fines were imposed in August for operating a business in violation of regulations, and here too it is a monthly record from the beginning of the plague to this section. In early August, business owners came to the Knesset to fight for the abolition of the corona fines imposed on them so far, claiming they could not pay.
According to the Center for the Collection of Fines in the Enforcement and Collection Authority, which collects the corona fines imposed by the police, as of mid-September 2021, there are about 329,000 Corona reports in stock for collection.
