Elbit Systems has received a $ 54 million order from the U.S. Army

Elbit Systems has received a $ 54 million order from the U.S. Army to provide advanced binocular Enhanced Night Vision Goggle Binocular night vision systems, as well as spare parts, logistics support and testing equipment. Elbit will deliver the order by February 2023. ENVG Systems -B provides American combatants with improved environmental orientation in limited visibility conditions and a better ability to identify and lock on targets, in order to increase the chances of being harmed.
The current order is a second production order as part of a framework contract signed between Elbit and the U.S. Army in October 2020 for advanced binocular night vision systems of this type, in the amount of up to $ 442 million. Elbit Systems, managed by Bezalel Machlis, will supply through the American subsidiary the systems, which are the next generation of night vision systems, developed by the American granddaughter Harris. The U.S. military has not defined the overall timetable for the implementation of the framework contract.
The first order received at the time of signing nearly a year ago was $ 23 million, and will be executed by December 2021 at Harris' plant in Roanoke, Virginia. The framework contract was signed following another huge contract worth $ 249 million that Elbit Systems received in September 2019, for the supply of upgraded Night Squad night vision devices for the Marines, including spare parts and maintenance and logistics services.
Both contracts will shorten the return on investment in the acquisition of night-vision activity from Harris in April 2019 for $ 350 million. Harris was then forced to sell its night-vision business as a condition of approving the merger between it and L3, which is also active in night-vision systems. Following the acquisition, Elbit Systems has become one of the two leading companies in the US night vision systems market alongside L3-Harris.
Harris develops night-vision binoculars for ground and air forces, which are based on thermal imaging and allow to operate in extreme conditions of low light and harsh visibility conditions on the battlefield. The binoculars that Harris develops for infantry soldiers combine a night vision system, augmented reality and live video transmission capability into one system, which increases the soldier's ability to identify and analyze the situation, and connects it to the battlefield management network. Harris's complement the Elbit Systems, which is concentrated in the subsidiary Alask.
