OwnBackup, a developer of a leading cloud data protection platform acquires american RevCult

Posted on Sep 1, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

OwnBackup, a developer of a leading cloud data protection platform, announces the acquisition of RevCult, a software company that provides security solutions for the California-based Salesforce environment. This is the third acquisition announced by OwnBackup in the last 15 weeks, which follows the acquisitions of Nimmetry, a company that manages data in the SaaS environment, and the Israeli cyber company Merlinx.
OwnBackup is developing a platform that enables organizations to manage and protect their data assets in cloud infrastructures, including Salesforce's cloud environment and Microsoft's Dynamics 365. The technologies allow organizations to continuously and automatically back up huge amounts of business data in the cloud, in order to perform rapid recovery if necessary following a human error or cyber attack. Other services of the company are: management of all the metadata that the organization produces in the cloud, management of information archives in automation adapted to the needs of the organization and complying with regulatory regulations, for example GDPR. And Sandbox manufacturing that enables organizations to safely test innovation in an ideal testing environment. OwnBackup has raised $ 500 million since its inception, the most recent being raised at a value of $ 3.35 billion.
The acquired company RevCult helps organizations easily secure data volumes, which are growing rapidly in volume and variety of data. In addition, the company helps organizations avoid configuration error management in the cloud environment, by continuously scanning for incorrectly managed permissions, which are the main cause of cloud security failures.
With proactive data backup, monitoring, comparison and recovery, we help organizations recover quickly from damage to data assets in the cloud. But some of the vulnerabilities can be proactively prevented with the help of RevCult's complementary technology, "said Sam Guttman, CEO of OwnBackup. "Together with RevCult, we can provide additional protection against major security issues that lead to data loss and information corruption. For example, locating suspicious privileges inside Insider Threats, which allow unauthorized people to access information in the organization and generate or export reports. This is in addition to detecting additional vulnerabilities."
OwnBackup was established in 2015 and is led by Sam Guttman (CEO), Ariel Berkman (Co-Founder and VP of Technology) and Uri Yankilev (Co-Founder and VP of Sales). The company currently has about 525 employees, of which 120 are employed at the development center in Israel. The rest of the employees are employed in the company's offices in the USA, London, France, India and Australia. 4,000 organizations worldwide, including Zoom Platform, Singapore Development Authority, University of Miami and more.
