The average product basket, compiled by the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Central Bureau of Statistics and based on data from the Consumer Council from the Prices website, was NIS 936 in June 2021.
From the list of chains tested, the chain that sold the basic product basket at the most expensive price in June is "Mini Super Alonit" - the cost of the basket tested in June is NIS 1,127.
From the list of chains tested, the chain that sold the basic product basket at the cheapest price in June is "Rami Levy Online" - the cost of the basket tested in June is NIS 810. The price difference between the expensive chain and the cheapest chain in June is 39%, which is NIS 317.
The price difference between the most expensive and the cheapest chain in the "discount" chains is 11%, which is NIS 90. From the list of online stores examined, the price difference between the expensive and cheap chain is about 18%, which is NIS 145.
The tested basket includes 68 products from the categories milk and its products, bread, meat and fish products, dry food, fruits and vegetables, and toiletries and cleaning products. The product basket includes the basic products that are the best-selling and constitute a significant share of household expenditure.
The Consumer Council and the Ministry of Economy and Industry publish the prices of the basic product basket in the various chains every month. The basket was formulated by the CBS and the Ministry of Economy and Industry and launched in December 2018, in order to encourage competition for the lowest basket price among the various players in the market and allow consumers simple and accessible information regarding the prices of consumer products purchased by them frequently.
The selection of the products included in the basket was made using an orderly methodology and in accordance with three criteria: their relative weight in the "Household Expenditure Survey" conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics; The level of variance between income quintiles in Israel in the way basic products consumed by all quintiles and products sold throughout the seasons are selected. The products in the basket are selected products and are intended to allow targeting and therefore do not include all consumer products purchased by households.

The average basket cost in selected chains, which represent chains characterized by a relatively low price level, is NIS 867.
The difference between the cheapest and the most expensive chain is about 11%, which is 90 NIS.
The Super Alonit and Tiv Ta'am chains showed the highest price decrease at a rate of 7% (NIS 77) and 5% (NIS 46), respectively. The Saleh Dabah and Bitan Wines chains in the city showed the highest price increase at a rate of 4% (NIS 33) and 3% (NIS 27), respectively.
