Union of Lawyers will hold sanctions through information meetings during work time in government ministries

Posted on Jul 9, 2021 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

From this Sunday (11.7), the Union of Lawyers will hold information meetings in government ministries in preparation for planned organizational measures. This follows the announcement by the Civil Service Commissioner this week, unilaterally and without negotiations with the Bar Association, of a new outline for the mutual opening of the lawyers 'and attorneys' tenders - without removing the barriers between the rankings. Their promotion and their rights, and contrary to the recommendations of the Abramovich Commission which discussed the matter.
The Union of Lawyers informed the state that it does not oppose the opening of tenders between lawyers and lawyers, but demanded that this be done in negotiations on how to open tenders and their consequences and remove barriers between rankings. However, the state refused to hold negotiations, contrary to its commitment, and made a unilateral decision to open mutual tenders, ignoring the claims of the Union of Lawyers.
The chairman of the Union of Lawyers, Adv. Yitzhak (Yitzi) Gordon: "We have no choice but to embark on a comprehensive struggle for the future of the public legal service and the rights of lawyers, in the context of the union's pending labor disputes.
