The Israeli fintech company Rapyd acquires Icelandic payment company Valitor for $ 100 million

The Israeli fintech company Rapyd announced the acquisition of the Icelandic payment company Valitor, in a transaction worth $ 100 million. Valitor provides payment solutions to businesses across Europe, both in physical stores and online purchases. Rapid noted that following the company's last round of fundraising, which took place in January and raised $ 400 million at a value of $ 2.5 billion, the Israeli company is actively looking for acquisition opportunities. It focuses on payment companies in order to connect them to Rapid's existing capabilities in the field.
Rapid has developed an international payment platform for businesses and consumers, which allows bank transfers, transfers to digital wallets, cash payments and more. The company operates the largest online payment network of its kind in the world, which supports 65 types of currencies in more than 170 countries.
Among the investors in Rapid: Coatue Spark Capital, Avid Ventures, FJ Labs, Latitude, Oak FT Target Global, Tal Capital, Durable Capital, Enter Capital, General Catalyst, the American fintech company IGNIA and Stripe.
In April last year, Rapid, founded in 2015 by Eric Stillman, Arkady Karpman and Omar Priel, acquired the Icelandic clearing company Korta in a deal worth several tens of millions of dollars.
