The designated finance minister, Avigdor Lieberman, intends to appoint Ram Blinkov to the post of director general of the Ministry of Finance - this was reported tonight (Saturday) in News 13. Blinkov and Lieberman did not respond.
Blinkov previously served in a number of positions in the Budget Division of the Ministry of Finance. In 2008, he was appointed head of the division, but resigned in 2009 during the tenure of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after he was deprived of powers regarding the formulation of the state budget with Uri Yogev.
Blinkov currently serves as chairman of NATA. In the past, he served as CEO of HOT, CEO of the Ministry of the Interior and in a number of other public positions. Blinkov was also the owner of a consulting firm, which, among other things, provided consulting for the establishment of the broadcasting corporation here.
Blinkov will take over as CEO at a time when the Ministry of Finance is in a severe crisis after the term of the outgoing Minister of Finance, Israel Katz, who will leave after upheavals at the top of the ministry. Lieberman is also due to appoint the head of the budget department, a position currently being filled by Yogev Gardos as part of a vacancy.
