In addition, there is a suspicion that Tnuva transferred large sums of money to non-profit organizations affiliated with Babchik, in order to promote the removal of product markings.
Babchik denied in his interrogation what was attributed to him, and told investigators that all his actions were done lawfully. Babchik's police and attorney, Amit Haddad, agreed to extend his detention until Tuesday at 8:00 PM, after which Babchik will be released under house arrest.
Litzman was asked about the suspicions against his assistant during a tribute event to the medical staff and heads of the health system, and said he did not know the suspicions against Babchik. "I have no idea what this is about. Bechik is my assistant, he is a loyal and honest person. I have nothing to add beyond that," he said.
The police initially stated that the investigation raised the suspicion that one of the detainees had promoted the interests of large commercial companies in the economy in exchange for bribes, on several occasions, "while exploiting his status and in complete conflict with the public interest."
Tnuva stated: "Tnuva has acted and is acting in accordance with the law and corporate governance. The company and its managers are cooperating and will cooperate with the investigation, as required."
