Ministry of Health will recommend abolishing the obligation to wear masks indoors on June 15

Health Minister Yuli Edelstein has announced that the Ministry of Health will recommend abolishing the obligation to wear masks indoors on June 15. "After a consultation with senior officials of the Ministry of Health, headed by Director General Prof. Hezi Levy, we decided that if the morbidity remains low until June 15, we will allow the removal of the masks even in closed spaces,"
According to Edelstein, "At the peak of the morbidity, five months ago, there were over ten thousand patients a day, as of yesterday there were only four. "Wonders: At the peak we reached about 10% verified; today we are around a tenth of a percent."
Earlier this month, restrictions on the green and purple characters were lifted, for the first time since the outbreak of the corona plague. This means that it will no longer be necessary to present vaccination or recovery certificates in order to enter certain places and the crowd restrictions defined within the purple mark will be abolished. In addition, unvaccinated children and adults will be allowed to enter multi-participant events, restaurants, hotels and shows without the condition of being vaccinated or presenting negative test results.
Last week, the Ministry of Health approved extending the vaccination campaign to children and adolescents under the age of 16. The ministry's policy is to allow vaccinations for 15-12 year olds, at the discretion of parents and their children, but not to force them to do so. The reason for this is the very low level of morbidity in Israel and the high immunization rate among the elderly population and groups.
At the end of the week, the HMOs began vaccinating 15-12-year-olds against the corona virus, after approving the use of the vaccine at this age in Israel. To date, appointments have been made for the vaccination of about 11,000 children and adolescents at the HMOs' appointment centers. The vaccine is given at the health insurance clinics around the country by prior arrangement, starting at noon - after school hours.
