Rafael ecruits about 600 people each year - but falls short compared to multinational companies

Posted on May 23, 2021 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

At the end of April, Raphael, the maker of Iron Dome, completed a NIS 805 million fundraising issue for institutional bonds.
Iron Dome batteries intercepted more than 1,000 rockets launched into Israel during Operation Wall Guard, although this time there were quite a few rockets that managed to penetrate the air defense system and hit populated areas. The Air Force used hundreds of precision bombs, including Rafael's spice bombs, and ground army units hit Hamas squadrons with the company's anti - aircraft missiles.
Rafael will invest more than NIS 250 million in the construction of a new office building in the Galilee, in a new clean laboratory building at the David Institute in the Krayot, and in upgrading old buildings on the company's two main campuses, which have been used for decades.
In addition, a second floor will be built at the company's branch in Har Hotzvim in Jerusalem, the branch in Be'er Sheva will be expanded, and the development of the new branch in Tel Aviv will continue. In all the branches, the establishment of coffee complexes, fast food and services for the employee is perfect.
The company, which employs about 8,000 people, recruits about 600 people each year, including for student positions. Although this is a government company, the company's salary is not low. According to the salary commissioner's report, in 2019 there were about 4,900 ranking employees, the lowest rank, who received an average monthly salary of NIS 20,022. Above them in the earning pyramid stood 1,179 employees, with an average salary of NIS 44,555, and 1,719 defined As high-wage earners, but earned slightly less, NIS 36,506.
However, as a company with a majority of engineering and technological manpower, it competes directly with Israeli high-tech companies and local branches of international companies for talent in those fields.
Although the company operates under a 2000 wage agreement, updated in 2012, which gives it more flexibility than other government companies, it is unable to offer financial terms that are an integral part of private high-tech companies, such as options.
