The Supervisor of Banks has contacted the CEOs of the banks, the Ministry of Defense and the National Insurance Institute in order to improve the awareness of people with disabilities of the benefits to which they are entitled in the field of commissions.
According to the banking rules, a "person with a disability" is defined as a customer who has presented the bank with a certificate from the Ministry of Defense or the National Insurance Institute, according to which he suffers from a disability of 40% or more.
According to these rules, a person with a disability is entitled to perform 4 operations by a clerk per month at the cost of an operation on a direct channel. Banks are also required to include a person with a disability in the basic commission track, insofar as this track has been reviewed and found to be worthwhile for him, and to inform him of his joining and his possibility to cancel the joining.
Inquiries received by the Supervisor of Banks show that many customers are unaware of this benefit and do not take advantage of it. In light of the importance of informing customers with disabilities about the discounts to which they are entitled in the bank fees, but this without compromising the privacy and feelings of these customers, the Supervisor of Banks contacted the banks to inform these customers about the fee benefit.
The Supervisor also approached the National Insurance Institute and the Ministry of Defense with a proposal to examine with them, appropriate ways in which these customers can be informed about the discount on bank fees, based on the perception that the customer is notified close to the time he was defined as disabled. Regarding their rights, will be effective, and will lead to the same person working to regulate his rights in the bank in parallel with their regulation in other areas as well.
