The Medical Association: warning strike for 24 hours in all hospitals in Israel

The Medical Association has decided to carry out its threats, and starting Monday at 7:00 a.m. there will be a 24-hour "warning" strike in all hospitals and community clinics. The reason, according to the doctors, is "the forceful and bullying conduct of the Ministry of Finance in recent weeks, and the strengthening of the trend against the background of the government vacuum."
The strike will include general, geriatric, psychiatric and rehabilitative hospitals across the country, with hospitals working on a Saturday and holiday basis. Urgent dialysis services, intensive care, emergency rooms, delivery rooms, preterm infants and oncology treatments will also operate on a Saturday and holiday basis. On the other hand, CEOs, hospital administrators, IDF doctors, the Ministry of Defense, the Israel Police and the Prison Service will not take part in the expected strike.
The strike will include community clinics and health bureaus, and government offices in each major city will have one primary Torah clinic. "The public is asked to refrain from arriving, except in urgent and life-saving cases," the Medical Association announced.
The Medical Association explains that the strike will take place against the background of the Treasury's refusal to finally approve the 600 standards of doctors who were temporarily absorbed during the corona crisis. The Treasury explains that as long as there is no government and budget approved, there is no legal tool that will allow them to absorb those doctors permanently, but clarify that no doctor will be fired. This morning, Calcalist unveiled a draft of the remuneration rules for self-employed doctors published by the Commissioner of Wages at the Ministry of Finance, which for the first time seeks to monitor and limit the salaries of thousands of independent doctors - who already make up more than 60% of the community. This only exacerbated the commotion, when the chairman of the Archie (Association of Independent Physicians), Dr. Eyal Shapira, was photographed against the background of the article in Calcalist, announcing that the organization he heads is also joining the strike.
Sources in the health system and in the Ministry of Finance define this strike as "the opening shot of the negotiations around the new collective agreement." This, are ineffective.
