Approved: the low tariff that HOT will charge from Internet providers for using a connection to its infrastructure

Posted on Apr 18, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

The Ministry of Communications has approved the low tariff that HOT will charge from Internet providers (ISPs) for using a connection to its infrastructure - NIS 9. This means that providers will now be able to access the company's regional communications cabinets (CMTS) at a reduced wholesale rate and sell discounted surfing packages to consumers. The good news for consumers is a discount of about 28% of the national tariff, and now access providers will be able to offer cheaper packages on top of HOT's infrastructure.
In Israel, there is a duopoly in the field of Internet connection infrastructure - Bezeq (-2.32% 337) and HOT. Bezeq, for comparison, allows those providers to ride on its infrastructure in the wholesale model up to the branch cabinet, and from there to the customer's home are the ones who connect it to the Internet - a move that dramatically lowered Internet prices for the public. HOT allowed providers only full use of its infrastructure, not part of it. The company claimed that for technological reasons this is not possible. This limitation has created a competitive problem on the part of both the consumer and the suppliers - it has reduced the possibilities for everyone.
The Ministry of Communications has tried for years to introduce HOT to the wholesale market, but has not set a price for the use of the company's CMTS components. In February, the Ministry of Communications stated that the price that HOT had set for the use of its regional infrastructure for MSH (which was NIS 10.9 per hour) - which was NIS 10.9 - was too high, after lowering it from NIS 12.5. HOT has an interest in suppliers The approach will use all of its infrastructure so that you can benefit more from them, and not just the final section - from the regional connection to the customer's home.
