Corona fines dropped in a dramatic fashion: only 112 compared with 300 on a regular day

Posted on Mar 24, 2021 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Data from the Center for the Collection of Fines at the Enforcement and Collection Authority published on the website show that yesterday (Tuesday) only 112 reports were received at the Center for the Collection of Fines. This is compared to 300 corona fines on Tuesday and 345 corona fines on Sunday. In the last weekend before the election, about 600 Corona reports were given. It should be noted that Corona fines are also given by inspectors in the various cities.
It is also possible that the reason why almost no Corona reports were given on Election Day lies in the fact that many police officers were directed to activities related to Election Day. However it sometimes takes another day for complete absorption of the fines and then there may be a situation where the number of fines will increase slightly.
The data show that on March 10, 2021, for example, 459 corona fines were received at the Center for the Collection of Fines, ie four times the number of fines granted on Election Day.
And what about the report payments? The recipient of a Corona fine has 90 days to pay it. In March 2021, about 32,000 corona fines have been issued so far, of which only 749 reports have been paid so far (however, the recipients of the report still have time to pay it). However, the data show that many do not pay fines even after the 90 days have passed.
So far, the amount of the reports distributed is about NIS 346 million, the amount of the reports paid is about NIS 108 million and the amount of the reports that have not been paid and is in fact a debt of the Israeli public to the state coffers is a huge amount of about NIS 323 million.
It also appears that in March 2021, 8621 fines were imposed for not wearing a mask out of a total of about 10,000 fines issued.
