Arad textile factory in Arad are closing their plant in Jordan

Posted on Mar 9, 2021 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Six years after the closure of the Arad textile factory in Arad, owned by the Hyman family from the United States, with a textile standard, and the transfer of its operations to factories in Jordan, Mamon and Ynet learned that in recent months the company has liquidated all operations in Jordan.
The company laid off 500 Jordanian workers and returned the factory structure to the Jordanian government after the activity was not economic: the cost of wages in Jordan has risen consistently as well as the cost of energy. In addition, part of Arad's weaving factory burned down on the spot. Arad reported that production was copied to factories and subcontractors in India and the East. A small part of the sewing activity in the field of bedding was copied back to the factory in Arad.
The closure of the factory in Arad was accompanied by the dismissal of more than 200 residents of the city and created an employment crisis. After the closure of the plant, an Israeli headquarters remained in place, which managed the operations in Jordan and was responsible for marketing and supplying bedding and towels from Jordan to the Israeli institutional market.
Following the changes, Gary Heiman, chairman and standard owner, decided to focus his activities in Israel on importing and marketing towels, bedding and complementary accessories for the home under the Arad brand. These will be marketed in a chain of stores established in recent months under the Arad brand.
Assaf Suissa, the new CEO of Arad's operations in Israel, told Mammon and Ynet: "It was precisely in the days of Corona that we were able to reach new growth thanks to the Zionism of Gary Heiman."
