Expenditure on online transactions reached NIS 16,301 billion in February, compared with NIS 14.529 billion in the corresponding month last year, an increase of 12.2%, according to data from Automated Banking Services, the director of the national credit card payment system. In February 2019, the amount of expenses in online transactions was NIS 12.162 billion.
In contrast, in store transactions, there was a decrease of 10.25%, when in February this year the transactions amounted to NIS 10.909 billion, compared with NIS 12.155 billion in February 2020. In 2019, expenses in stores amounted to NIS 10.919 billion.
The average daily transaction online was NIS 582.194 million, out of an average of NIS 971,915 million in credit card daily expenses.
According to estimates by automated bank services, the number of physical transactions at the presentation of a card will increase in March, in view of the opening of cafes and restaurants and an expected decrease in the number of online food orders.
In total, during February 2021, Israelis spent NIS 27.211 billion on credit cards, compared with NIS 26.684 billion in February 2020. The ISA stated that in calculating the average daily expenses, there was a 5.62% increase in credit expenses, while the average daily expenses in February 2020, Stood at NIS 920,141 million, compared with a daily average of NIS 971,815 million in February this year, which was 28 days.
