The Israeli medical device company Lumenis sold it's global medical device giant Boston Scientific, for $ 1.07 billion

The Israeli medical device company Lumenis, which is owned by the investment fund BPEA (Bering Private Equity), has announced that it will sell its surgical division to the global medical device giant Boston Scientific, for $ 1.07 billion.
The division will become part of Boston Scientific's urology division, which has announced that it intends to keep the company operating in the country and make it a center in the field of laser technologies.
The division sold is the surgical division, which includes laser solutions for minimally invasive surgeries in the fields of urology, ENT and more. Lumenis' aesthetics and eye care business will remain under its current controlling shareholder, the BPEA investment fund, which according to the announcement "sees these areas of activity as a strategic investment and a lever for continued significant growth for Lumenis worldwide". The fund intends to invest some of the proceeds of the transaction back in these activities.
The Lumenis headquarters are located in Yokneam and it employs about 450 workers out of 1,500 in the world.

Lumenis is a long-standing Israeli company in the field of medical aesthetics that has undergone several incarnations and costs over the years. In early 2020 it was acquired by the BPEA fund for $ 1.2 billion from the hands of the previous controlling shareholder, the XIO fund.
