3,690 Israelis were diagnosed yesterday - infection rate 5.9%

3,690 Israelis were diagnosed yesterday and another 884 today at midnight as positive for Corona. This is according to data from the Ministry of Health, which was updated at the end of Shabbat. Yesterday, about 63,000 tests were performed and the positive rate is 5.9%. Another 15,500 tests were performed today and the temporary positive rate is 5.8%.
In hospitals across the country, 1,236 corona patients are hospitalized, 760 of them in critical condition. 244 patients connected to respirators. Since the outbreak of the plague, 5,726 corona patients have died in Israel, 12 of them today and 19 yesterday.
Due to Shabbat, the rate of vaccinators has dropped and since midnight, less than 18,000 vaccines have been given. To date, 50.36% of Israelis have received the first vaccine dose and 35.64% also the second.
In Israel, 39,756 active corona patients. 5,260 of them live in Jerusalem, 1,867 in Tel Aviv-Yafo, 1,208 in Netanya, 1,073 in Petah Tikva, 1,057 in Ashdod, 979 in Ashkelon, 973 in Rishon Lezion, 942 in Bnei Brak, 926 in Be'er Sheva, 883 in Holon, 771 in Haifa, 727 in Bat Yam, 636 in Ramla, 628 in Rahat , 597 in Rehovot, 587 in Lod and 537 in Beit Shemesh.
On Friday, Pfizer CEO Albert Burla called Israel "the laboratory of the world" when referring to the Israeli vaccination campaign. Burla told NBC: "What we have seen is that the effectiveness of the vaccine in the field increases every moment after the second vaccine, which means that the effectiveness after the second dose is equal to and even bypasses what we saw in the clinical trials."
Meanwhile, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Danish Prime Minister Mada Fredricksen will arrive in the country next week to discuss the establishment of a vaccine and pharmaceutical plant. The establishment of the factories should provide the three countries with great independence in the purchase and production of vaccines. Prime Minister Netanyahu recently announced contacts with Pfizer to establish a vaccine plant in Israel and contacts with a modern company to establish a pharmaceutical plant in Israel.
