Intel Israel: In 2020 its export volume reached $ 8.04 billion, a sharp jump of about 22%

Intel Israel announced that in 2020 its export volume reached $ 8.04 billion, a sharp jump of about 22% compared to the volume of exports in 2019, which stood at $ 6.6 billion. According to Intel, this is a record year in terms of exports of the company's products in Israel, and that the company is responsible for 14% of Israeli high-tech exports.
The jump in exports is mainly due to the fact that the factory in Kiryat Gat went into full operation during the year. Following the surge in global demand for computer products and Intel processors, due to the corona crisis, Intel has been heavily commissioned to expand production. As a result, the plant in Kiryat Gat has in recent months significantly increased the production of high-volume chips with 10 nanometer technology - the company's newest chips - and the cafeteria there has even been converted in favor of production space.
The plant in Israel is one of the newest, and will continue to play a major role in Intel's manufacturing activities in the coming years. However, the company hints that in the near future it will start producing future chips from other chip makers as well, such as TSMC. The new CEO, Pat Glasinger, is now considering outsourcing manufacturing activities. However, he noted that even in 2023 most of Intel's products will continue to be manufactured internally.
As of 2021, Intel Israel is the largest high-tech employer in Israel with 13,950 employees. Of these, 7,000 are in development centers, 4,850 in the production center and about 2,100 employees of Mobilai, Mobit and Habana Labs. This is compared to 13,750 employees last year.
