The Ministry of Health recommends Netanyahu to extend the Corona closure

The Ministry of Health recommended on Monday evening in a consultation held with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to extend the Corona closure, which is due to end this coming Sunday at midnight (31.1), at least a week, in the same format as today, when the education system is completely closed. Health Minister Yuli Edelstein and senior officials in his ministry said at the hearing that "it would be insane to get out of quarantine with such data, especially when it comes to critically ill patients."
They noted that 1,174 seriously ill patients are now hospitalized, including 325 respirators: "The intensive care units have an unprecedented occupancy rate in the State of Israel. To start accumulating more serious illness in such a situation is insane." According to participants in the discussion, Netanyahu said he understood the situation, but asked if "blue and white also understand it."
Earlier today, blue-and-white chairman Bnei Gantz announced that he would oppose extending the closure and continuing to close Ben Gurion Airport if the corona fines law is not finally approved, and if the Ministry of Education's powers to revoke budgets from educational institutions violating the closure are not activated.
Regarding the closure of Ben Gurion Airport, the Ministry of Health will request an extension of two weeks in closure. In discussions held at the Ministry of Health, Minister Edelstein was instructed to examine the use of GPS tracking bracelets to allow people returning from abroad to enter home isolation instead of forced isolation hotels.
"With all due respect, I do not understand the great difficulty of using such a locating bracelet. This is not a camera in the bathroom but a request from a law-abiding citizen to sit in solitary confinement. I do not understand what invasion there is here in privacy. He should not leave his house in solitary confinement," Edelstein said. .
