Only 3,256 workers were added to the list of job seekers yesterday

Only 3,256 workers were added to the list of job seekers in the past day - the smallest number in a day since the start of the third closure. This is mainly because the extension of the closure by ten days has not yet translated into an increase in the number of vacations for unpaid leave, since the employment service's report from Wednesday includes only the workers sent to their homes even before last night's government decision.
The fear is that today and tomorrow many thousands more will go on vacation and even be fired due to the extension of the third closure, which is still unclear if it will not be extended further into February, if God forbid the morbidity rate does not decrease due to further accelerated spread of corona virus.
Data from the Employment Service show that since the beginning of the third closure, 141,000 new jobseekers have been registered, with the main casualties being 37,000 teaching, education and training workers who have been registered as jobseekers since the closure began. Sales workers make up 16.3% of all registrants and their number stands at 23,000 since the closure began.
The data also show that since the closure was tightened, 80,000 new job seekers have been registered, which is 57% of all registrants, and that 26,000 of the registrants (about 19%) are not in the IDF, but have been fired or resigned since the closure began.
