Thousands demonstrated Saturday evening marking 6 months of Protest against Netanyahu

Posted on Dec 20, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Demonstrations against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were held tonight (Saturday) across the country, with protesters marking six months since the outbreak of the protest. Thousands protested in Paris Square in Jerusalem, near the prime minister's residence, after marching there from the String Bridge. Several activists seized protest installations of inflatable submarines on behalf of the "Investigation Now" movement, which demands the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the submarine affair.
The demonstrators in Jerusalem held a ceremony in which they told about arrests made in the Jerusalem district of the police. During the speeches, a Netanyahu supporter entered the circle and tried to silence one of the spokespersons, the demonstrators repulsed him and only then did police arrive and remove him from the area. One of the demonstrators, Ziv Bertfeld, said: "The police have not done their job until now ... We ask the new commissioner to take care of the citizens and the demonstrators and to take care of freedom of expression and freedom of demonstration." "M. Police gave the protesters, and distribute reports on a road block to those who refused to evacuate.
In addition to a demonstration in Paris Square, several dozen people demonstrated in front of the entrances to Tel Hashomer Hospital, where Netanyahu was vaccinated against Corona this evening. Several dozen people participated in a demonstration by the Movement for Quality of Government in Rabin Square in Tel Aviv.
Hundreds of people demonstrated Saturday evening at intersections and bridges across the country. The black flags organization said that "in the last six months Israel has undergone two closures, and we are on our way to a third only because at this time Netanyahu is busy with law, tax benefits for himself and small politics - and that is not going to change.
About 150 demonstrators arrived at the mall junction in Ness Ziona on Saturday evening, after abusive graffiti was spray-painted near the houses of protesters against Netanyahu in the city this week. Opposite them stood several Netanyahu supporters, who carried signs that read "Enemy leftists" and "traitorous leftists." Members of the "Guardians of the Fortress" group, who define themselves as veteran Likud voters, who demonstrate against Netanyahu every Thursday at the Zeev Fortress in Tel Aviv, also attended the demonstration. One of the members of the group, Danny Betito, said he was tired of the rift, division and corruption and called on the Likudniks to "replace the disk and move sides, there is no other way." Also in the Horev Center in Haifa, about 150 people demonstrated against Netanyahu, and in front of them were about 15 of his supporters who held signs that read "Only Netanyahu, go with them" and "The people chose Bibi."
