The Ministers of Finance and Housing agreed: outline for housing at a reduced price

Posted on Dec 6, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

The Ministers of Finance and Housing agreed on Sunday evening on an outline for "housing at a reduced price." Their agreement will allow the start of marketing in the new method, as approved by the Israel Lands Council as early as September. The Minister of Finance, Israel Katz, and the Minister of Construction and Housing, Yaakov Litzman, approved the decision that allows the marketing of thousands of units throughout the country at a significant discount to those eligible.
The new method provides discounts to those eligible and increases economic viability in the marketing of the Israel Land Authority. The ministers also hope that the outline will also increase the marketing of the Israel Land Authority and accelerate the real estate market, with an emphasis on the current period of economic crisis due to the Corona epidemic.
As mentioned, the new plan divides the country into three areas - luxury, demand and periphery - while in the periphery and demand areas housing will be offered at a reduced price to eligible homeless by lotteries, while in luxury areas tenders will be marketed to free market contractors by market forces.
One of the new clauses stipulates that the demand areas will be separated from the luxury areas by including tenders for land on which apartments will be built whose prices do not exceed NIS 22,000 per square meter. In this way, the plan seeks to allow those eligible to purchase reduced price housing in the second district. , Such as Modi'in, Rehovot, Yavne, Gedera, Rishon Lezion, Netanya, Ashdod, Hadera, Beer Yaakov and more. This means that areas where apartment prices exceed NIS 22,000 per square meter will be defined as luxury areas, including cities such as Tel Aviv and Herzliya. And there the state's discounts will be abolished - in contrast to the price per occupant program that provided discounts in these areas as well.
