Histadrut launched a new campaign to encourage employees to form workers unions

Posted on Nov 28, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

On Saturday evening, the Histadrut launched a new campaign to encourageemployees to form workers unions. The campaign, which arises against the background of the Corona crisis, will be broadcast on television channels and will be accompanied by extensive activity in the digital arena as well.
At the center of the campaign - the year 2020 - is about a year that emphasized more the importance of social solidarity and the power of togetherness. The move, produced by the Histadrut's information department and through the advertising company Bauman Bar - Ribnai, presents animals in various situations to illustrate what humanity has learned in the past year from the health and economic crisis that has shaken the world. "To unite is in the nature of us all."
"The world of labor relations has changed a lot in the last year, and we have also seen a change in the motivations of the workers to join a union," say the Histadrut's union. "After years in which most of the unions have taken shape against the background of the workers' desire to improve their wages and terms of employment, we are witnessing a return to the first and most basic thing that the Histadrut provides in organized workplaces - stability and job security."
"As we have come to know, no employment sector or sector in the labor market is immune to a global epidemic. Trade, insurance, industry, tourism and virtually every other field have been exposed to circumstances where what characterizes them most is uncertainty. Many workers have lost their jobs or been sent away. No return date. The labor market has changed and we have seen how precisely during this difficult period, unionized jobs have managed to minimize the harm to workers. "
The chairman of the Histadrut, Arnon Bar-David, emphasized that: "Since the outbreak of the crisis, the Histadrut has played a leading role in maintaining the stability of the economy and is a balancing factor in the workplace. The momentum of incorporation precisely in the year of the corona lies in the fact that many workers realized that organized labor is their safety net. I sincerely hope that more workers will exercise their right to organize and join the Histadrut. "Wherever there is a new workers' union, responsible and cohesive leadership grows - one that helps protect workers, reduce the gaps between them, and harness everyone to ensure the resilience of the workplace."
The chairman of the Histadrut's Information, Spokesperson and Advertising Division, Yaniv Levy, added: "I believe that the current move will help increase awareness of the benefits of the association, and will expose the Histadrut to tens of thousands of employees who want to be part of it. They need to know that this house is open to them and reflects the values that make the Histadrut strong and relevant, even a hundred years after its establishment. "
