Devices for rapid detection of the corona virus will be installed in dozens of vital industrial plants

Posted on Nov 8, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Devices for rapid detection of the corona virus will be installed as early as this week at the gates of dozens of vital industrial plants across the country.
Tests conducted at factories show that a large proportion of workers are interested in placing the devices, but it is important to note that an employee (or any person) cannot currently be required to be tested, and workers will not be required to undergo a test if they do not wish to do so.
The trend is for the entire industry to place "Sofia" devices to detect the corona virus within 15 minutes, regardless of laboratory or need to transport samples. Already this week, the factories that are members of the Manufacturers' Association will be able to perform the test as part of the "Industrial Shield" system to enable production continuity in Israel alongside the Corona, and it also includes training of epidemiological researchers in the company. Strictness to minimize the risk of infections in the workplace and more.
Dr. Ron Tomer, president of the Manufacturers' Association, said that "in the coming days, the local industry, which employs more than 500,000 workers, will be able to perform a smart inspection and cut off the contagion chain within 15 minutes. This is to allow the economy to work alongside the fight against the corona virus. "Sofia is a rapid corona test, which was recently approved by the FDA and the Ministry of Health with the ability to perform tests for about 40 workers per hour.
The device works like a smartphone that interfaces with a computer so that the test results can be quickly transferred to the Ministry of Health without losing data on the way.
