In the second quarter of the year, there was an expected decrease of 27% in the purchase of apartments compared to the same period last year. This is according to data published by the chief economist at the Ministry of Finance.
A survey published by the ministry shows that in the second quarter of the year only about 17,000 apartments were purchased on the free market. These are not purchases of apartments as part of the government project price per occupant. This is the lowest level of apartment sales since the first quarter of 2003. During this period, there was a dip in the purchase of apartments following the recession in the economy and the intifada. A particularly sharp decrease in the purchase of apartments was recorded in the area of Netanya, Tel Aviv and the center, where a decrease of 32% -35% was recorded.
