Friday: daily record since the beginning of the year in credit card purchases in food chains

Although the supermarkets will remain open during the second closure, according to data from Shebaa (Automatic Bank Services), the operator of the national credit card payment system, yesterday shows a daily record since the beginning of the year in credit card purchases in food chains in Israel: NIS 290 million. On Rosh Hashanah (Tuesday and Wednesday), Israelis spent about NIS 270 million on food chains, each day.
Even today, in the hours before the tightening of the second closure restrictions, extensive activity was recorded in credit card purchases throughout the country: between 10:00 and 13:00, more than 8,500 transactions per minute were recorded in ISA systems, with the cumulative total expenditure being higher than NIS 320 million - an increase of about 8% compared to Fridays in recent times. The increase in sales is also probably related to the fact that during the first closure period there were more Israelis who were abroad than now.
