Consumer price index remained unchanged in August

The Central Bureau of Statistics reports that the consumer price index remained unchanged in August 2020. Significant price declines were recorded in clothing and footwear items 2.2%, fresh fruit 1.2% and communications one percent. Significant price increases were recorded in the culture and entertainment items 1.9% and fresh vegetables 1.2%. Apartment prices rose by 1% and completed an annual increase of about 2.9%.
Since the beginning of the year, the consumer price index has decreased by 0.6% and in the last twelve months (August 2020 compared to August 2019), the consumer price index has decreased by 0.8%.

Comparing the prices of transactions made in June 2020 - July 2020 compared to the prices of transactions made in May 2020 - June 2020, it was found that apartment prices increased by one percent, thus completing an increase of 2.9% compared to the same period last year (June 2019 - July 2019).
In the segmentation of changes in housing prices by district in the months June 2020 - July 2020 compared with the months May 2020 - June 2020, price increases were found in the districts: Jerusalem 2.2%, Haifa 1.9%, Tel Aviv 1.3%, South 0.7% and North 0.4%; In contrast, the Central District remained unchanged.
In the segmentation of changes in housing prices by district compared to the corresponding period last year, June 2020 - July 2020 compared to June 2019 - July 2019, price increases were recorded in all districts, the most prominent of which were in the districts: Tel Aviv 4.2%, Central 2.9%, Jerusalem 2.3% and South 1.3%.
The new housing price index found that their prices decreased in June 2020 - July 2020 compared to May 2020 - June 2020 by 1.3%, thus completing a decrease of 3.9% compared to the corresponding period last year (June 2019 - July 2019). The percentage of transactions carried out with government support and participated in the calculation is 44.9%, compared with 40.2% in the previous period (May 2020 - June 2020).
