Over the past weekend, grants were deposited for more than 1.6 million citizens aged 18 and over, the National Insurance Institute said today (Sunday). It was also reported that about NIS 1.4 billion was transferred for about 3 million children in Israel. During the day, Social Security is expected to deposit the "grant for every citizen" to another 2.5 million citizens - and they will see the grant in their account tomorrow.
The National Insurance Institute stated that since the previous Sunday, the grants have been deposited for about 8.2 million residents (children and adults), in the amount of about NIS 5.9 billion. More than two million citizens entered Social Security systems and checked their bank accounts - 471,241 of them changed their account. At this stage, there are about 800,000 citizens who have not yet received the grants, most of whom have not yet verified their bank accounts with the National Insurance Institute.
Of the 500,000 bank accounts that have not yet been located, about 50% belong to the Jewish localities, about 25.5% to mixed localities and about 22% to the non-Jewish localities.
Most of the missing bank accounts belong to the 18-21 age group, which is about 184,000 citizens, constituting about 36% of the total 500,000 bank accounts that have not yet been verified. The next age group is the 51-70-year-olds, who make up about 99,000 citizens - 19% of all unverified accounts.
The grants under the "Grant for Every Citizen" law began to enter the banks' accounts as early as last Sunday, with the National Insurance Institute claiming that by Wednesday most of the aid money will be transferred to all eligible people whose bank account details are in the system. Which in practice was only completed over the weekend.
The National Insurance data show that the total payments for the recipients of the child allowance is about NIS 1.45 billion, which will be transferred in about 1.22 million payments. This is for about 2.98 million children. "A project the size of a grant for every citizen has never been in our districts," described Social Security Director General Meir Spiegler.
He added that "Social Security employees have continued to work on an emergency basis since March, meeting national missions, aware of the size of the hour and the mission on its side. The funds will be handed over to those entitled to beats until the last citizen receives the grants he deserves."
About two weeks ago, the Knesset plenum approved the one-time grants law in the second and third readings. 68 MKs supported the neighborhood law "Grant for Every Citizen," with no opponents. The law established a distribution of the grants to citizens, in order to encourage consumption and employment and propel the wheels of the Israeli economy.
According to the law, every resident of Israel over the age of 18 or a married boy or girl will receive a one-time grant in the amount of NIS 750. Until the fourth child, the grant will be NIS 500, and from the fifth child onwards, the grant will be NIS 300.
In addition, an additional NIS 750 will be granted to populations of recipients of various benefits and pensions. The law also stipulates that no offsetting will be made for debts against the grants, and soldiers who are released or will be released during the entire year 2020, will be entitled to a grant of an additional NIS 500 on the 750 shekels they are entitled to under the one-time grants law.
