Gai Maroz Tracks Down Stolen E-Bike in 15 Minutes using Ituran’s TICK TRACK app.

Israeli television personality Gai Maroz and his wife, journalist Orly Vilnai, tracked down a stolen electric bicycle just 15 minutes after receiving a theft alert, using an Ituran tracking system recently installed on the bike.

Maroz owns a Magnum electric bicycle and had installed Ituran's TICK TRACK tracking system on it just two days before the theft.

The system is connected to a 24/7 mobile application that allows users to track the bicycle's location in the event it is stolen.

Tracking the Bicycle in Real Time

After receiving the alert that the bicycle had been stolen, Maroz and Vilnai immediately used the application to determine its location.

Within approximately 15 minutes, they identified the bicycle in Neve Sha'anan, in south Tel Aviv, and relayed the information to Ituran's enforcement team.

Ituran personnel arrived at the location and helped Maroz retrieve the bicycle and load it into his vehicle.

Technology and Rapid Response

The incident highlights the potential role of real-time tracking technology in recovering stolen bicycles and other light electric vehicles.

Unlike traditional theft prevention measures, a tracking system can provide information about the location of a stolen vehicle after the theft has occurred, allowing the owner and enforcement personnel to respond quickly.

In this case, the combination of the TICK TRACK system, the mobile application and Ituran's enforcement personnel enabled the bicycle to be located and recovered shortly after the theft.

A Growing Target for Thieves

Electric bicycles have become increasingly popular in Israeli cities, while their relatively high value and portability have also made them attractive targets for thieves.

The rapid recovery of Maroz's bicycle demonstrates the importance of immediate notification and accurate location data once a theft occurs.

For Maroz and Vilnai, an investment made only two days earlier turned out to be decisive: within minutes of the theft, they knew where the bicycle was — and were able to get it back.
