Almost a third The business owners surveyed in the north of Israel didn't report their income

Posted on Jan 28, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

In a raid by tax authority investigators on business in the north of the country, it turned out that almost a third
The business owners surveyed did not report their income, a high rate compared to all the deals in other cities recently. Businesses in the city of Safed and surrounding area came to the Income Tax Investigators last weekend as part of a special audit in the area. The operation, conducted by a Safed Mole Safed official, focused on businesses in the commerce and service industries operating Friday and Saturday. The reviews focused on the cities of Safed, Kiryat Shmona, Hatzor HaGlilit, Rosh Pina and Carmiel.
In preparation for the operation, businesses with particularly high volume of activity were identified, and businesses with deficiencies were found in previous reviews. Businesses were also examined for which information about alleged non-registration of revenue was obtained. In the audit campaign, 42 businesses were examined, of which 12 were found to have not legally registered revenue, about 29%. In addition to book management reviews, 31 law enforcement reviews were conducted to reduce cash use, and 11 violations of the law were found.
In a store for selling hookahs in Hatzor HaGlilit, a purchase made during the researchers' audit was not recorded by the store owners. Also, an on-site check revealed that additional checks received through checks were also not recorded in the books. When asked about this, the shop owner explained: "I had no excess so I didn't register."
At the ready-to-eat food stand in town, reviews and observations were made that the booth owner does not manage books. The explanation for the visitors was: "I thought I had three months to check and decide if I was continuing the activity or stopping."
The Tax Authority reported that this review was conducted as part of the extensive anti-tax and black capital activity of the PA. This is part of the policy of enhancing enforcement activities to improve and maintain deterrence capability, inter alia by conducting field operations, which aim to bring about true reporting and collection of real tax and thus increase the burden of equality among citizens.
