P.M Netanyahu decided to appoint MK David Bittan to Minister of Agriculture

Posted on Jan 5, 2020 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to appoint Deputy Minister Tzipi Hotobli to the Diaspora Minister, Minister Yifat Shaasha Biton  minister for Welfare Minister and Labor Deputy Minister Yitzhak Cohen will be appointed Minister of Housing and Construction and MK David Bittan will be appointed Minister of Agriculture.
The decision comes after a number of petitions filed against Netanyahu for continuing to hold ministerial files, despite an indictment. In August, MK Haim Katz resigned as Minister of Welfare and Labor in light of the indictment against Katz, according to the Panchasi-Deri law requiring the resignation of ministers who were indicted.
In the Torah flag faction, they received a proposal to appoint MK MacLav to serve as minister, but the party stated that there is an order for Torah leaders to take only positions that can influence and assist. "In light of the PM's relinquishing powers to deputy ministers, we informed the PM that at this stage we Reject the proposed proposals, ”they said in the party.
The ministerial appointment process is taking place without the Knesset plenum approval, after the Attorney General has approved Netanyahu to fulfill these appointments without the Knesset plenum, six months ago when Ministers Rafi Peretz and Bezalel Smutrich were appointed. None of the ministers appointed during the recent period, including the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Defense, the Minister of Education, received the Knesset's trust and served under a government that did not win the Knesset.
In addition, according to the Basic Law, Netanyahu's government has a limit in appointing ministers to 18 ministers, but Attorney General Mendelblit has allowed Netanyahu to continue to appoint additional ministers, because during the 20th Knesset, a directive allowed for more appointments.
