Ituran's report on car theft for 2019: 10% increase

Ituran's report on car theft in 2019 according to a wide sample of about 600,000 vehicles in Israel states that in 2019 there was a 10% increase in the car theft event in Israel compared to 2018. During 2019, Ituran led to the arrest of 140 suspected vehicle theft vehicles, the highest number ever seized in a year, and thwarted the theft of 820 vehicles, a 20% increase over the previous year.
In 50% of the theft events, the car was found in the vehicle key, 26% of all theft attempts were in the hacking method, 8% by connecting to the OBD socket, 8% towing / loading the tool and theft, and in most cases the nature of the theft cannot be accurately stated.
Ituran's extensive sample shows that in the analysis of the thieves' favorite areas, Gush Dan continues to lead the theft table in Israel with 28% of all the theft events, followed by the Sharon region with 26%, the southern region with 15%, the humiliation zone and Jerusalem with 10% each, Northern region with 7% and Judea with 4%.
The segment of vehicles with the highest number of theft attempts in 2019: private vehicles - 28% jeeps and jeeps - 35%, commercial vehicles - 20%, trucks - 8%, motorcycles - 6% and military vehicles - 3%.
The main target of car thieves in 2019 was the PA areas (Tulkarm, Ramallah and Hebron), similar to previous years.
In 2019, car thieves focused on transporting the stolen vehicles to the cities of Ramallah and Tulkarm, which are located near the center of the country, which are used for the thieves asylum cities for all intents and purposes.
The cities with the highest probability of theft are Tel Aviv with 8% of events, Jerusalem 7% and Beer Sheva and Petah Tikva with about 6% each.
