The Histadrut declared a labor dispute at Bank Hapoalim

The Histadrut declared a labor dispute at Bank Hapoalim, in the wake of a deadlock in negotiations to sign a new wage agreement and a violation of the working conditions. The conflict is relevant to some 7,500 workers nationwide.
The background to the conflict: Leg drag and a deadlock in negotiations to sign a new wage agreement. The previous wage agreement ended two years ago, and the parties have been negotiating ever since, but the bank's management refuses to improve the salaries of its employees.
Bank shareholders received dividends of NIS 1 billion following the sale of shares in Isracard's subsidiary, while employees did not receive any grant or reward following the sale. If that is not enough, management has even reduced jobs and taken a series of streamlining procedures. As a result, the bank's employees in general and the branch staff in particular created a burden and worsened their working conditions.
The bank's management has also recently demanded an increase in the number of employees employed in personal contracts, in order to nurture the organizational power of employee representation.
