Posted on Dec 11, 2019 by Ifi Reporter

The Haifa District Planning and Construction Committee today approved a plan for urban regeneration in Kiryat Yam, which includes the construction of 1,580 housing units in the EAG complex, in addition to commercial areas and public buildings. This is the largest urban renewal program approved in the Haifa area.
The plan covers an area of approximately 182 dunams and is located between the streets of Sapir and Jerusalem, near the Jerusalem Boulevard axis where the Matron passes today and north of the IDF Boulevard, where the Matron is expected to pass in the future.
This is a construction-type evacuation plan, under which 260 existing housing units will be evacuated today, and the new apartments will be built in 17-26-story residential buildings as well as 7-10 stories in height, combined with commercial facades and public buildings. Of all the new housing units in the plan, 316 housing units will be allocated for small apartments.
The plan defines a distribution of seven mixed use complexes, with the average density of the entire complex set at 23 housing units per acre. The program also includes paths for pedestrians and cyclists, along with sea access routes.
Haifa District Planner Liat Peled: "This is an important plan for the city, whose development is based on urban renewal and the improvement of the existing fabric. Many of them need to be improved or removed and their construction. The boundaries of the program in the interface with urban regeneration programs in preparation, and therefore, the high availability of the program in question will give the horizon to the other areas. "
