Two IDF soldiers - Acting Master Sergeant Dan Kamhaji, 31 years old from Kfar Oranim, and Acting Master Sergeant Nachman Natan Hertz, 31 years old from Elazar - were killed yesterday (Monday) by an explosive Hezbollah drone blast that hit the Metula area.
The two reservists who were killed served in the 6551 patrol battalion, in the half-fire formation (551). Besides them, another soldier was slightly injured. Since the beginning of the war, 612 IDF martyrs have fallen.
Haman Hertz immigrated to Israel a few years ago with his wife Joanna Shoshana. The couple has two little daughters, Abigail and Talia. Nachman also left behind four brothers and sisters. It is the fourth space of the Elazar settlement in the Gush Etzion Council since the beginning of the war. His funeral will take place today at 12:00, at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
Yaron Rosenthal, head of the council: "We embrace the Hertz family and the residents of Elazar at this difficult time. We were privileged to have Nachman be part of the Gush Etzion community and we learned from him love for the Land of Israel and commitment to the Land of Israel."
Dan Kamhaji served for a long time in the reserves. He left behind his parents, Gila and Ariel, and his brothers Lior, Avi, Noga and Ohad. His funeral will take place today at 16:30 at the cemetery in Modi'in.
According to the IDF, the UAV exploded in the area where the military force was near Metula, after a failed interception attempt. A heavy exchange of fire developed on the spot, aircraft and helicopters were launched into the area and the IDF attacked the sources of the fire in response.
