L’Oréal has signed an exclusive worldwide 50-year license agreement to create, develop, and distribute fragrance and beauty products under the Gucci Beauty brand, strengthening its position in the global luxury beauty market.
The agreement follows the previously announced decision by Kering on July 7, 2026, regarding the early acquisition of Gucci’s beauty operating license from Coty, and is based on the strategic agreement signed between Kering and L’Oréal on October 19, 2025.
The new license agreement is expected to take effect on July 1, 2027, subject to regulatory approvals. From that date, L’Oréal will assume responsibility for the global development and management of Gucci Beauty activities. Until the official transfer date, Kering and L’Oréal will work together through a dedicated transition framework designed to ensure a smooth handover, maintain business continuity, and support the continued growth of the Gucci Beauty brand.
L’Oréal CEO: "A Major Growth Opportunity"
Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal Groupe, welcomed the addition of Gucci Beauty to the company's luxury portfolio.
"I am extremely excited about the opportunity to add Gucci Beauty to L’Oréal’s brand portfolio, one year earlier than originally planned," Hieronimus said. "This marks the beginning of a 50-year journey, another significant growth engine for L’Oréal and a new milestone in our partnership with Kering."
Cyril Chapuy, President of L’Oréal Luxe, said the addition of Gucci Beauty represents a strong strategic fit for the company.
"Adding Gucci Beauty to L’Oréal Luxe is a great honor and represents a perfect strategic alignment," Chapuy said. "Gucci is a cultural powerhouse that has reshaped the rules of modern luxury by combining a rich heritage with a unique and visionary approach to fashion."
He added that the partnership combines Gucci’s creative boldness with L’Oréal’s global beauty expertise, creating the potential to build a new multi-billion-euro luxury beauty business.
