Cyberbit Shuts Down Israeli Operations and Lays Off Local Workforce
Posted on Jun 24, 2026 by Ifi Reporter - Dan Bielski

Cybersecurity training company Cyberbit has closed its Israeli operations and laid off all of its local employees, according to reports obtained by Calcalist. The exact number of employees affected has not been disclosed, but industry estimates indicate that the company's Israeli center employed several dozen workers prior to the shutdown.
The company has not publicly commented on the move.
Cyberbit was established as a spin-off of Elbit Systems with the goal of improving the readiness of cybersecurity teams facing increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
The company developed advanced cyber training platforms designed to simulate real-world attacks and help organizations train security analysts, incident response teams, and security operations center (SOC) personnel in realistic environments.
Over the years, Cyberbit became known for its Cyber Range technology, which enables organizations to conduct large-scale cybersecurity exercises and operational readiness training.
Major Investment Accelerated Growth
In 2020, the American investment fund Charlesbank Technology Opportunities Fund invested approximately $70 million in Cyberbit.
The transaction included roughly $48 million paid to acquire part of Elbit Systems' stake in the company, while an additional $22 million was invested directly into Cyberbit to support future growth.
The investment was viewed at the time as a significant endorsement of the company's position in the rapidly expanding cybersecurity training market.
Elbit Exited Ownership in 2023
In 2023, Elbit Systems completed the sale of its remaining holdings in Cyberbit, ending its ownership involvement in the company.
At the time of the transaction, Cyberbit employed approximately 150 people across Israel and international locations, including operations in Europe, the United States, and Asia.
Since becoming fully independent, the company has continued to expand internationally and now employs several hundred workers worldwide, with a strong focus on the U.S. market.
Global Operations Continue
Despite the closure of its Israeli activity, Cyberbit is expected to continue operating globally. The company remains active in the growing market for cybersecurity readiness, simulation environments, and training solutions for government agencies, critical infrastructure operators, financial institutions, and private enterprises.
Industry analysts note that the decision reflects the company's strategic concentration on international markets, particularly North America, where demand for advanced cyber defense training platforms continues to grow.
Shift Highlights Changing Priorities in Cyber Sector
The closure of Cyberbit's Israeli operations marks the end of a significant chapter for one of Israel's best-known cyber training companies. While the company maintains its global presence, the move underscores broader trends in the cybersecurity industry, where firms are increasingly consolidating operations and focusing resources on their largest growth markets.
