Amazon has lowered the purchase threshold on the American website that entitles Israelis to free shipping

Posted on Oct 20, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

Amazon is preparing for the November shopping holidays and is fighting for its buyers from Israel: the company has lowered the purchase threshold on the American website that entitles Israelis to free shipping. In August it returned the free shipment after canceling it following the Corona crisis. So far the continuum has been $ 65. Now it has lowered it to $ 49, like the days before the crisis.
In 2020, the company canceled free shipping to Israel due to the corona crisis and shipments became very expensive. The company even stopped investing in the Israeli area on a site where Israeli sellers displayed their wares with delivery within Israel. Before that, Amazon became an influential factor in the Israeli online shopping industry and Israelis even bought from Amazon in the UK and Germany and from other Amazon sites.

After returning the option of free shipping in August, it added more and more products shipped to the country at no cost. Now it seems that the company is definitely back to investing in the Israeli market.
In the shipping industry there have been rumors so far that Amazon will allow free shipping ahead of Chinese Singles Day or Black Friday with no purchase amount limit. This has not happened yet. In addition, not all products sold on Amazon are shipped to Israel and of those that are indeed shipped to Israel - not all are shipped for free.
At the same time, the shipping companies describe the mess that has prevailed at Ben Gurion Airport over the past month: "We are a month before the shopping holidays: Shopping El Al, Chinese Singles Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday In a month and a half, when the packages will start flowing into the country in droves. " The ground forwarding companies in Israel also have a problem of shortage of workers and drivers.
According to all sources in the shipping industry - Israel may be perceived as unprepared for the November shopping holidays. The holidays are upon us and the load of packages at the gates of the country is already great and the chaos is celebrating. In addition, there are delays in deliveries within the country and the fear is that the shipping and logistics companies will collapse due to too much work in November and consumers will suffer from delays.
Customs brokers, importers and online trading sites also claim that most of the traffic is currently at Ben Gurion Airport. One of the importers told Ynet that "the cargo terminals receive packages and import products from the airlines. There are two companies that operate the terminals - Maman and Swiss, and from what I see, the situation at the cargo terminal in Maman and Swiss is becoming more and more difficult.
"The cargo is not absorbed, gets lost, valuable cargo stands outside exposed to rains, irreversible damage to industry. Some of the items are from importers, such as medical equipment and some are packages in private imports. There is also a mess in the report about the reception of cargo and the arrival of flights. "
