Bezeq announced a rather dramatic decision by its subsidiaries, Pelephone and Bezeq International: We stop operations

Posted on Oct 19, 2021 by Ifi Reporter

Bezeq announced a rather dramatic decision by its subsidiaries, Pelephone and Bezeq International:  They shut down their operations, which means the management themselves shut down the companies to force the employees to compromise. They opened sanctions against the management and even delayed the launch of selling iPhone 13 and previously shut down payroll and service centers. The decision apparently comes from Pelephone CEO Ran Goron.
According to the announcement: "Each of the subsidiaries submitted to the Chief Supervisor of Labor Relations in the Ministry of Economy, a notice of disabled protection under section 5A of the Labor Dispute Resolution Law, 5717-1977. And / or an operational possibility of having certain processes in the subsidiaries "- this meant that according to the committees in any case under sanctions, the companies have no apparent economic need for further operations as long as the committees continue to disrupt work.
What does it mean to disable a shield? The move is in fact a defensive action available to management in order to help it deal with harm to the company and customers as a result of sanctions or strikes taken in the organization. The strike can be taken by the employer, when the employees take a strike and their strike creates prevention and difficulty in employing employees involved or not involved in the conflict. A good example is: invoices that are not sent to customers for two months. The management of Pelephone and Bezeq International stated: "We are forced to take this step, because the company is being harmed every day, and many employees are left with no real ability to work as a result of the sanctions."
Although the management did not say that they would immediately go on a defensive strike and gave the committees an opportunity to return to prevent the expulsion of thousands of Pelephone and Bezeq International employees: Depending on the organizational steps and sanctions to be taken by the employees. At the same time, a mediation process continues between the management of the subsidiaries and the representatives of their employees. The company and its subsidiaries are unable to assess, at this stage, the consequences as a result of the protective shutdowns that will actually take place. "
